fall back
sunday fundays are back for the fall at the people’s yoga and all classes are donation-based. anything you want to contribute for class will go right to the people’s yoga scholarship fund to reduce financial barriers for more folks to access yoga.
classes will be hatha/restorative with a focus this month on softening.

i have been thinking a lot about the armor we wear and the tension necessary to face each day. with respect to that need, i am looking for opportunities for softness within moments of intensity.
resting bitch face is a misogynist term of oppression that reinforces patriarchal ideas of what a woman should be. the truth is, the world is dangerous and wearing emotional armor is protection.
recognizing the privilege i have as a white person, i can only imagine how much stronger women of color need to be in public and even private spaces for self-preservation.
holding this understanding, i am working to find moments of safety when i can soften an area of tension to conserve my energy for the moments when faced with threats. a relaxed readiness.
i am practicing relaxing my jaw, easing the space between my brows, wiggling through my fingertips. i find this especially liberating during moments of intensity, whether physical or emotional stress. i give myself permission to feel both. honoring the need to protect and defend myself as well as comfort, support, and restore.
i hope you will be able to find moments of softening this fall. dry socks on a rainy day. and i would love to see you sunday afternoons!
